Reimagining traditional patterns through contemporary lines.

Every region has its own artistic identity, reflected in the patterns woven into fabrics, sculpted into ancient structures, or painted onto temple walls. This project takes those rich, meaningful motifs and reimagines them through contemporary design techniques. The result is a fusion of tradition and innovation—a celebration of cultural aesthetics presented in a fresh, modern way. By preserving these patterns in new forms, we keep local heritage alive while making it relevant for today’s world.

Lai Kham

Viharn Lai Kham, located within Wat Phra Singh in Chiang Mai, is a temple hall over a century old. Although it was built during the reign of King Rama V, when the Lanna Kingdom had fully become part of Siam, the viharn was constructed strictly following the traditional Lanna architectural style. It is considered a masterpiece of Lanna and Chiang Mai architecture.

The words 'Lai Kham' refers to the gilded lacquer patterns that are the hallmark of this viharn. Some of these intricate designs feature flowing lines that represent branches, leaves, and flowers, with subtle influences of Chinese artistic elements.
